Seedance 2.5 finally shipped a 1080p mode. So we pasted one prompt per scene into four models — Seedance 2.0 at 1080p, MiniMax H3 at 2K, Seedance 2.5 at 720p and Seedance 2.5 at 1080p — across three deliberately awkward scenes: a zombie corridor, real baseball physics, and K-pop choreography.

It won one round, tied one, and lost one. To the older model. Every prompt we used is on this page, in full, so you can run the same test yourself and disagree with us.

## The rule that makes the test worth anything

**One prompt per scene, pasted unchanged into all four models. Only the model and the resolution control ever changed.** No re-rolls to make a favourite look good, no per-model prompt tweaks, no picking the best of five. The models ran in the same order every round, so you only learn the layout once: Seedance 2.0 1080p → MiniMax H3 2K → Seedance 2.5 720p → Seedance 2.5 1080p.

That ordering matters for a reason that has nothing to do with fairness: the newest model plays last, so you have already formed an opinion by the time you see it.

## Round 1 — "Corridor 9": can four soldiers stay four soldiers?

Smoke, muzzle flashes and a moving camera are where AI video quietly falls apart. Bodies merge into each other, a soldier grows a third arm, the squad silently changes headcount between shots. That is the actual test — not whether the scene looks cinematic.

**Winner: Seedance 2.5.** It was the only run we would drop into a game trailer as-is. MiniMax H3 deserves a specific mention: it was the only model that rendered every distinct zombie type in the prompt rather than repeating one silhouette.

Subject: four soldiers in modern kit with consistent gear and faces; a wave of five to six
zombies — distinct complete figures, no crowd merging.

Audio: boots and gear rustle under tense quiet; door breach clang; controlled rifle bursts
with sharp room echo; impacts landing exactly with the flashes; then near-silence, breathing,
a pipe hiss.

Avoid: friendly cross-fire angles, soldiers merging, gore close-ups, limbs detaching,
continuous spray-fire, readable patches, text, watermark.

## Round 2 — "Full Count": does the bat actually hit the ball?

This is the round most model comparisons get wrong, because they judge it on the wrong frame. The interesting moment is bat-to-ball contact, rendered in slow motion — and slow motion is the *least* visually busy second in the clip. If you skim for the most action, you will land on the crowd celebration and learn nothing.

Freeze the contact frame. Either the bat meets the ball, or the ball simply changes direction somewhere near it. Then keep watching: is it the same ball still flying, and is the batter still the same person when he reaches first base?

**Winner: a tie.** Seedance 2.5 gave the more cinematic shot and its physics genuinely hold up; Seedance 2.0 at 1080p is good enough that you would ship it. If you are making sports or fitness ad footage, either will do the job.

dust kicking off his cleats. Handheld follow on the base path.

Subject: one pitcher, one batter, one leaping outfielder, a full night-game crowd; the batter
keeps the same face, build and uniform in every shot.

Audio: stadium murmur; the snap of the release; a clean wooden crack exactly on bat-ball
contact; crowd roar swelling as the ball carries; no commentary.

Avoid: ball teleporting or duplicating, bat passing through the ball, pitcher identity
changing between shots, readable jersey text, watermark.

## Round 3 — "Stage Five": the round the new model lost

Five dancers, matching outfits, fast synchronised choreography. The hard part is not the dancing — it is staying the *same* five people. Count them. Watch the hands when the choreography speeds up. Watch whether anyone quietly becomes a sixth member, or whether a dancer's hair changes colour between shots.

**Winner: Seedance 2.0, clearly — and we did not expect that.** Seedance 2.5 at 1080p was nothing special here: it produced a looped animation of dancers moving on the spot rather than choreography that travels. MiniMax H3 looped too. If you are making music-video content, the older model is the better tool today.

## What 1080p actually buys you

Resolution makes good motion look better. It does nothing at all for motion that was already broken — a looped dance at 1080p is a sharper looped dance. A newer version number is also not a promise that the model understands your scene better; it lost a round here to its own predecessor.

The practical workflow that falls out of this: **draft at 720p, and pay for 1080p only once the take is worth keeping.** Resolution is the last decision you make, not the first.

## The part most people skip: consistency comes from a reference, not a prompt

The three hosts in the video — a soldier, a batter and a dancer — are the same person in three different worlds, and none of them were filmed. They are generated by the model under test, from one character sheet used as an identity reference in every shot.

Two rules did most of the work. **Keep the character sheet boring:**neutral grey background, flat light, real skin texture. If you bake grain and lens character into the sheet, the character stops reacting to lighting in every later shot. And **never run a finished image through a second full pass** — edit the one thing that changed and composite it back, because two full passes turn a face plastic.
