Nano Banana Pro pricing depends entirely on which door you walk through. Google sells the same model, officially Gemini 3 Pro Image, three ways: inside the Gemini app as part of a subscription tier, through the Gemini API by the image, and through third-party platforms that convert Google's per-image rate into their own credits. Each channel publishes a different number and none of them is the one a buyer needs, which is what a finished image costs. This guide does that arithmetic for every channel and shows where they diverge.

Every figure is traceable. Google's per-image API rates come from its Gemini API pricing page, the subscription tiers from its Gemini subscriptions page, the free-tier and watermark rules from its Nano Banana Pro launch post, all read on September 5, 2026, and our lane costs from the [AI Content Drop pricing table](https://aicontentdrop.com/pricing). Where Google publishes a tier's access level but not a numeric cap, this page quotes the access level and does not invent a number.

## Nano Banana Pro price at a glance

On AI Content Drop, both Google image lanes are a flat credit cost per generation, shown before you press generate. Credits are pooled across every model on the platform, so an image render and a video render draw from the same balance.

| Lane | Credits per image | What you get |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Nano Banana Pro | 10 | Gemini 3 Pro Image; text-to-image and image-to-image; 1024×1024, 1536×1024, 1024×1536 |
| Nano Banana 2 | 6 | Gemini 3.1 Flash Image; faster, lower cost, strong photorealism |

The two numbers most people are looking for: a Nano Banana Pro image is **10 credits**, and Nano Banana 2 is **6 credits**. On Google's own API the same Pro image is **$0.134** at 1K or 2K and **$0.24** at 4K, and in the Gemini app it is included in a subscription from **$4.99** a month with a usage cap rather than a per-image price. The rest of this guide turns all of that into a per-image figure.

## How Google prices Nano Banana Pro: three channels

- Gemini app subscriptions.

Nano Banana Pro is a feature of the Gemini app. Free users get a limited quota, after which Google says they revert to the original Nano Banana model; paid tiers get higher quotas expressed as multiples of the free limit, not as image counts.
- Gemini API.

Developers pay per output image, with the price set by output resolution, plus a small per-token charge for the prompt. Batch mode halves the image price. There is no free tier for the image models on the API.
- Third-party platforms.

Services like this one buy through the API and sell a flat credit price that bundles the prompt tokens, the image, and the interface.

## Gemini subscription tiers

Google's subscriptions page lists four tiers in the United States. The image-generation column is what Google publishes about each tier, which is an access level rather than a number of images.

| Tier | Monthly | Usage limits | Nano Banana Pro | Watermark |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | Base limits | Limited quota, then reverts to Nano Banana | Visible Gemini watermark |
| Google AI Plus | $4.99 | 2× the free limits | Limited access | Visible Gemini watermark |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | 4× the free limits | Expanded access | Visible Gemini watermark |
| Google AI Ultra | from $99.99 | Up to 20× the Pro limits | Highest access | Watermark removed |

Two details from Google's launch post matter more than the prices. First, the fallback: when a free user's Nano Banana Pro quota is spent, generation continues on the original Nano Banana, so a free account can silently produce a lower-tier image. Second, the watermark: Google states the visible Gemini watermark is removed only for Google AI Ultra subscribers, so at $4.99 and $19.99 every image carries it. The SynthID invisible watermark stays on all tiers. ## Gemini API pricing per image

The API is the only Google channel with a per-image price. These are the output rates on the Gemini API pricing page; the prompt itself is billed separately at $2.00 per million input tokens for the Pro model, which Google equates to about $0.0011 per image.

| Model | Output size | Standard, per image | Batch, per image |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) | 1K or 2K | $0.134 | $0.067 |
| Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) | 4K | $0.24 | $0.12 |
| Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) | 0.5K | $0.045 | about half |
| Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) | 1K | $0.067 | about half |
| Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) | 2K | $0.101 | about half |
| Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) | 4K | $0.151 | about half |
| Nano Banana (Gemini 2.5 Flash Image) | standard | $0.039 | $0.0195 |

The shape to notice: on the Pro model, 1K and 2K cost the same and 4K costs 79% more; on Nano Banana 2, each step up in size adds roughly 50%. If you only need 1K output, the Pro model's 2K is free headroom. The live table is at [Google's Gemini API pricing page](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/pricing).

## Nano Banana Pro cost per image on every AI Content Drop plan

Plan price divided by monthly credits gives a cost per credit; multiplied by the lane's credit cost, it gives the implied cost of one image here. These are the numbers the pricing table implies but does not print.

| Plan | Monthly | Credits | Cost per credit | Nano Banana Pro (10) | Nano Banana 2 (6) | Pro images / month |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | 10 | — | 1 image | 1 image | 1 |
| Starter | $19 | 150 | $0.127 | $1.27 | $0.76 | 15 |
| Professional | $49 | 450 | $0.109 | $1.09 | $0.65 | 45 |
| Ultra | $99 | 1,000 | $0.099 | $0.99 | $0.59 | 100 |
| Business | $299 | 3,500 | $0.085 | $0.85 | $0.51 | 350 |

Nano Banana 2 gives 25, 75, 166, and 583 images a month on the same four plans. The free tier's 10 credits cover exactly one Nano Banana Pro image or one Nano Banana 2 image, which is enough to see the output before paying. Credits can be topped up on every plan and annual billing lowers the cost per credit, so these counts are floors.

## One 1K product image, side by side

| Where | Cost for one image | What you commit to |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Gemini API, standard | about $0.135 | Google Cloud billing, an API key, your own interface; no free tier |
| Gemini API, batch | about $0.068 | Same, plus asynchronous turnaround |
| Gemini app, AI Pro | $19.99 a month, capped | Watermarked output; quota expressed as 4× free, not as images |
| AI Content Drop, Professional | $1.09 | $49 a month for 450 pooled credits across every image and video model |
| AI Content Drop, Business | $0.85 | Lowest cost per credit on the platform |

The honest reading: per image, Google's API is far cheaper, at roughly an eighth of the flat lane on Professional. What the flat lane prices in is everything the API rate leaves out: no Cloud billing account, no key management, no interface to build, the prompt tokens bundled, and one balance that also runs Kling, Veo, and Seedance for the video the image usually feeds. If image generation is your only workload and you can integrate an API, use the API. If the image is the first frame of an ad, the [video ad cost calculator](https://aicontentdrop.com/blog/video-ad-cost-calculator-ai-models) prices the whole pipeline on one plan.

## Is Nano Banana Pro free?

In the Gemini app, partly. Google's launch post says free-tier users receive limited free quotas for Nano Banana Pro and then revert to the original Nano Banana, with a visible watermark either way. On the API, no: the image models have no free tier and every output is billed. On AI Content Drop, the free tier's 10 credits buy one Nano Banana Pro image outright, and the [Starter plan at $19](https://aicontentdrop.com/pricing) covers fifteen a month.

## How to use Nano Banana Pro

The model takes a text prompt, optionally with reference images, and returns one image. Google's launch post states it can hold the likeness of up to five people and take up to fourteen reference images in a single workflow, and that it renders legible text in the image in multiple languages, which is the capability that separates it from cheaper models for packaging, posters, and ad creative.

1. Pick the lane by output.

Nano Banana Pro at 10 credits for anything with text, a specific product, or a person who must stay recognisable; Nano Banana 2 at 6 credits for concept exploration and backgrounds.
2. Attach references before writing the prompt.

Image-to-image with the actual product shot beats a paragraph describing it. Add the reference in the

  generator

, then describe the scene, not the product.
3. Set the aspect ratio for the placement.

1:1 for feed, 9:16 for stories and Shorts, 16:9 for a video first frame; the lane supports all five common ratios.
4. Structure the prompt.

Subject, setting, lighting, lens, and any in-image text in quotation marks, in that order. The

Nano Banana Pro JSON prompt guide

has the full schema and tested examples.
5. Iterate on the cheaper lane.

Two Nano Banana 2 drafts cost a little more than one Pro image; find the composition at 6 credits, then render the final at 10.

## Nano Banana Pro prompts that earn their 10 credits

Three patterns that use what the Pro model does better than the base model, each written to paste into the generator:

- Product hero with in-image text.

"Studio product photograph of a matte white ceramic mug on a stone plinth, single soft key light from upper left, crisp shadow, off-white seamless backdrop, 85mm lens, the words 'MORNING BATCH' printed on the mug in small black sans-serif, photorealistic, 1:1."
- Consistent character across a set.

Attach one reference photo, then: "The same person, now seated at a cafe window in soft daylight, holding a phone, candid documentary style, 35mm, shallow depth of field, 4:3." Repeat with new settings; the reference does the consistency work.
- Poster with a layout.

"Minimal event poster, 9:16, off-white paper background, one large cobalt-blue geometric shape, headline 'OPEN STUDIO' in bold black sans-serif at top, three lines of small placeholder body text at bottom, Swiss design, flat, no photo."

Legible in-image text and reference-driven consistency are the two reasons to pay 10 credits over 6. If a prompt needs neither, it belongs on Nano Banana 2.

## Which plan do you need for Nano Banana Pro?

Every paid plan includes both Google image lanes; the plans differ in credits and in listed maximum output. For image work alone, Starter's 150 credits cover fifteen Pro images or twenty-five on Nano Banana 2, and the free tier lets you test one of each. The plan question becomes real only when the image feeds a video: a Professional plan at 450 credits covers, for example, ten Nano Banana Pro first frames plus fifteen Kling 3.0 clips at 22 credits each. The [Kling pricing guide](https://aicontentdrop.com/blog/kling-ai-pricing-2026) and the [best image models for video ad angles](https://aicontentdrop.com/blog/best-ai-image-models-for-video-ad-angles-2026) cover the pairing.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does Nano Banana Pro cost per image?

On Google's API, $0.134 for a 1K or 2K image and $0.24 for 4K, plus about $0.001 in prompt tokens; batch mode halves the image price. On AI Content Drop, a flat 10 credits, which is $0.85 to $1.27 depending on plan. In the Gemini app there is no per-image price, only a tier quota.

### What is the difference between Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2?

Nano Banana Pro is Gemini 3 Pro Image, the reasoning-capable model with the strongest text rendering and reference consistency, at 10 credits here or $0.134 per 1K image on the API. Nano Banana 2 is Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, faster and cheaper, at 6 credits here or $0.067 per 1K image on the API.

### Does Nano Banana Pro add a watermark?

In the Gemini app, a visible Gemini watermark appears on images for free, Plus, and Pro users, and Google states it is removed for Google AI Ultra subscribers. The invisible SynthID marker is present on all Google image output regardless of channel.

### Is there a Nano Banana Pro free tier on the API?

No. Google's pricing page lists no free tier for Gemini 3 Pro Image, Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, or Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. Free access exists only in the Gemini app, with a limited quota.

### What resolution do I get on AI Content Drop?

The Nano Banana Pro lane outputs 1024×1024, 1536×1024, or 1024×1536, which is the 1K class; the API's 2K and 4K outputs are not exposed as separate lanes. At that size the API price is $0.134, which is the basis for the side-by-side above.
